A United Nations spokesman said the Houthis accepted a Security Coucnil resolution that calls for an end to violence, withdrawal of their forces from all areas they have seized (including around the capital Sanaa) and an end to undermining the political transition in the country. Yemen’s embattled President Abd Mansour Hadi recently returned to Yemen from exile in Saudi Arabia. The Houthis, who have been backed by Iran, had made large scale inroads into Yemen, but air attacks by a Saudi-led coalition inflicted heavy casualties.
