An uneasy calm is holding along the Israel-Lebanon border one day after Israeli troops clashed for hours with terrorist forces. What began with the firing of Katyusha rockets into a military camp near the Israeli town of Safed (Tzfat) – marking the southernmost penetration by enemy missiles to date – and the retaliation by Israeli warplanes against bases belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, escalated into an afternoon of heavy cross-border firing, including mortar and sniper fire. A cease-fire brokered by the United Nations went into effect on Sunday evening. Israel Army Radio said on Monday morning that air force and artillery units remain on high alert.
