The US administration has allowed Israel to dip into the standing munitions supply that it keeps in allied nations for emergency use. An American defense official said on Thursday that Israel has been allowed to renew its supply of grenades and mortar shells from the War Reserves Stock Allies – Israel (WRSA-I). Israel made its request for access to the weapons 10 days ago and in doing so did not imply that they were in an emergency situation. Meanwhile, Congress is working to approve a $225 million emergency grant to Israel to bolster its array of Iron Dome anti-missile systems. The Iron Dome has performed nearly flawlessly during the Hamas missile barrages aimed at Israeli cities and is considered to be the “game-changer” that has prevented massive destruction inside Israel before and during the 24-day old hostilities.
