US Bans Electronics On Flights From Some Muslim Countries

Starting today, the US is temporarily banning passengers on some flights from eight Arab countries from bringing laptops, iPads, camera and most other electronics in carry-on luggage. Royal Jordanian Airlines revealed the ban and a US officials declined to comment. The Associated Press reported that the ban will apply to nonstop flights to the US from 10 international airports: Cairo in Egypt, Amman in Jordan, Kuwait City in Kuwait, Casablanca in Morocco, Doha in Qatar, Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Istanbul in Turkey and Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. A spokesman for Royal Jordanian said cellphone and medical devices were excluded from the ban. The ban begins just before a meeting of the US-led coalition against Islamic State in Washington, which will be attended by a number of top Arab officials. It was not clear if the ban was directly related to the State Department conference.
