US forces conducted airstrikes early Sunday on the Al-Azraqeen area in northern Sanaa, Yemen, following Houthi claims of targeting a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported that four airstrikes hit the area near the Yemeni capital, with local residents confirming explosions echoed across the city.
The strikes followed an announcement by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea of a “joint Yemeni military operation” targeting the USS Harry Truman and its accompanying vessels. Sarea claimed the operation used drones and cruise missiles, saying it “achieved its goals successfully.” He also warned of further Houthi operations against foreign forces during the Gaza ceasefire period.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

This marks the eighth reported Houthi attack on the USS Harry Truman since its arrival in the region on December 14, according to the US Central Command. Houthi forces have ramped up missile and drone strikes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November 2023, targeting what they describe as “Israel-linked” ships to express solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
On Saturday evening, the Houthi group announced the launch of two missiles toward Israel. These actions have heightened tensions in the region, prompting US and UK naval forces to respond with regular airstrikes and missile attacks on Houthi positions since January 2024.
