An Iranian Revolutionary Guard battle ship reportedly took dead aim for an American destroyer in the Persian Gulf eventually forcing the US ship to break-off its course in order to avoid a collision. The report by Fox News quoted US naval sources as confirming that the Iranian ship, whose crew was manning firing stations in readiness for battle, came within a kilometer of the American destroyer Mahan. The report also said the American crew fired flares and sounded sirens to warn off the Iranian crew. The incident comes amid building tension as President Trump reviews all government policies toward Iran with an eye toward re-negotiating or rescinding the controversial nuclear development agreement negotiated between Tehran and five Western nations. President Trump has called the pact the worst deal ever negotiated.
