The government of Pakistan has given the United States fifteen days to evacuate an air base in Baluchistan province from which it claims the CIA launches unmanned drones against Al-Qa’ida forces in the tribal region. The demand was made on Saturday after NATO jets and helicopters mistakenly attacked Pakistani army posts killing 17 soldiers. The demand is the latest in a series of events that have seen the US-Pakistan relationship plummet during the past year. The US believes that the Pakistanis are not living up to their commitment to fight the Taliban in anticipation of “the day after” NATO troops leave the country in 2014. Saturday’s deadly error has re-ignited calls by Pakistanis to evict NATO forces.
