US Shoots Down Drone Near Iraqi-Syrian Border

The US-led coalition in Syria said it had shot down an armed “pro-Syrian regime” drone that that had been flying toward its forces in southeastern Syria. The Reuters News Agency quoted an intelligence source that identified the aircraft as Iranian. It was the second time in three days that US forces shot down an aircraft operated by Damascus or its allies in Syria and raised tensions in the area. In a statement, US forces said they fired on the drone after it “displayed hostile intent and advanced on coalition forces.”
