Support Our Future Leaders

The Media Line is known for producing truthful, unbiased journalism and we are teaching future journalists to do the same. Through our signature Press and Policy Student Program, The Media Line provides an innovative opportunity for students to globalize their educational experience by connecting to an active news bureau in the Middle East, studying journalism and public policy under the mentorship of veteran journalists while earning academic credit.

These students will reshape how the world sees and understands the Middle East and, in turn, how the Middle East impacts our world. Your contribution will provide the next generation with the skills they need to uphold the highest standards of journalism and, in turn, educate our global society with integrity and respect.

Thank you!

“The Press and Policy Student Program has elevated my global awareness, supported my journalistic efforts, and propelled me on the path of future success within the news industry.”

US: We’ll Take Measures to Prevent Rise of New ISIS

While members of the international coalition that fought to defeat and are now declaring victory over the Islamic State are reveling in their achievement, the Trump administration is warning that the immediate goal for 2018 is to prevent the rise of a new version of the original. Brett McGurk, the president’s Special Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, told allied governments that the 74-nation US-led coalition will now implement procedures in east Syria and western Iraq, the areas ISIS designated its caliphate [state governed by strict Islamic law] that will prevent an ISIS version 2 from emerging. In a letter to the coalition members, McGurk said, “The US is prepared to remain in Syria until we are certain that ISIS is defeated, stabilization efforts can be sustained, and there is meaningful progress in the Geneva-based political process.”
