At least two rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israeli communities over the past 24 hours. No casualties have been reported. Following the first strike, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile towards a building Israel said was being used as a factory for the manufacture of weapons. Israel holds Hamas responsible for the rocket fire and for the bombing along the Gaza border two days ago that left one Israeli soldier dead and three wounded. No organization claimed responsibility for that attack, but Israel maintains Hamas is responsible for maintaining law and order in the Palestinian’s coastal enclave. Meanwhile, Hamas has rejected the Israeli move to have the release of captured soldier Gilad Shalit attached to any deal for a long-lasting truce. Hamas is demanding Israel open its border crossings with Gaza, but Israel now says it will only do that if Hamas frees Shalit.
