Wizz Air, which announced earlier this month that it would resume flights from Moscow to Abu Dhabi, has suspended those plans after criticism on social media, including calls to boycott the budget European airline. The announcement over the weekend by Wizz Air, which is based in Hungary, said the decision had been made due to “industry supply chain limitations,” Reuters reported. The route between Moscow and Abu Dhabi is run by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a separate registered air carrier in the United Arab Emirates that is 49% owned by Wizz Air. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi had suspended flights to Russia following its invasion of Ukraine Other UAE airlines, including Etihad, Emirates, and FlyDubai, continue to operate flights to Russia since the UAE has not put sanctions on Russia over the invasion of its neighbor.
