The World Bank announced on Sunday that it was approving a loan of $100 million for Jordan to be used to create jobs for its citizens and for Syrian refugees who relocated to the kingdom. The loan would be virtually interest-free as a gesture by the international community to help countries hosting refugees from the Syrian civil war, in this case Jordan, which is holding 640,000 refugees and Lebanon which has more than one million and is also receiving a $100 million loan. In all, an estimated 4.8 million Syrians have fled their country because of the war. How the jobs will be created or how it will be determined which jobs go to Jordanians and which to refugees was not disclosed.
