Do Not March to Your Death; Palestine Needs You Alive!

Rage. Rebel. Flood the streets and the roadblocks.

But don’t die.

The homeland needs you. If your voice isn’t heard today, it will certainly be heard tomorrow. It is a shame for Palestinians to remain silent in the face of the brutal occupation, but our choice should not be between utter silence and utter madness.

Unfortunately, we are marching towards death and revenge. How many Palestinian children died in stabbing attempts? How much young Palestinian blood was spilled? All too many. And how many of the occupation soldiers were even harmed or killed? Almost none.

I understand that Israel is a racist occupation state. Its soldiers are terrorists who have pushed us to insanity. But we must keep our heads up and remember what is right and what is wrong. Stabbing a soldier is equivalent to committing suicide.

We must stop and ask ourselves: where are we going? Isn’t it time for all of us to stand up as one and say “enough?”

We need resistance that isn’t based on death. Resistance that is grounded on hope for change. One that blesses life, not death. I tell the youth on the streets what I tell my children every day: this is just another round of the conflict. Your death will not get us closer to our national goals. Once the bloodshed is over, we will have to continue our struggle. Peacefully.

Our children must drop their knives. We must force them to drop their knives. And we must all stand together and say out loud: Palestine needs you alive! – Muahmmad Daraghmeh
