Arab Film Festival Amman Beginning August 25

The Arab Film Festival Amman will commence at The Royal Film Commission Jordan (RFC) on Sunday, August 25 at 8:00 pm with the screening of Screwdriver (MAFAK). The film, directed by Bassam Jarbawi, explores the life of Ramzi, a Palestinian having trouble adapting to the refugee camp he grew up in after being incarcerated in Israel. The film festival continues throughout the week, with screenings at 6:30 pm at the Rainbow Theater and 9:00 pm at the RFC. The RFC, which falls under the auspices of Jordanian Culture Minister Dr. Mohammad Abu Rumman, has recently drawn fire for the risque scenes appearing in the Netflix series Jinn, as well as for halting production last week on the movie Jaber, which implied that Jews have strong historical ties to Jordan.
