Culture Club

If you’ve been looking to take an art workshop, find new inspiration or connect with creative people, Culture Club is for you!

Are you stir crazy, yet? Do you dream of taking a jet plane to a faraway place? This month we are thinking about travel. The Center for Visual Art, MSU Denver’s current exhibition, The Walls Between Us, brings up travel in many ways.

Beth Krensky uses travel as a metaphor; walking, flying and carrying things with her as she moves through space. Faten Nastas Mitwasi’s video work takes us to checkpoints between Israel and Palestine. Lourdes Archundia’s video about road trips delves into the freedom of movement that people in the US have been entitled to. While Dr. George Rivera, Michael Dixon and Rachel Delaney each confront the ways in which the US restricts our southern neighbors from traveling into our country.

With this month’s Culture Club, we’re presenting two changes to the format. First, we’d like to welcome six of you to attend in person! Each person will have their own table, spaced throughout the gallery, and their own selection of supplies. Wearing a mask over your mouth and nose is required while inside the building. Tickets to attend in person are $10, or free for CVA members.

Not able to attend in person? Join us online! We’re switching our online format to Microsoft Teams. We’re also returning to having participants register through Eventbrite, whether you want to attend in person or online. Once you sign up for tickets, you will receive a link to attend online or a ticket to attend in person.

I hope to see you, either virtually or IRL soon!
