Dubai-based comedienne Arzoo Malhotra will be performing her stand-up comedy routine at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this weekend. Her show, ‘Unladylike’, tackles her experience with identity, specifically expectations related to her culture, nationality and conventional beauty standards. The 26-year-old was born in India, immigrated to the United States, and has been living in the United Arab Emirates for the past two years. “The UAE is so multi-cultural, writing comedy here means you have to find things that can be funny to a lot of people, and not just to a niche audience. That has been a great exercise for me as a comedy writer and performer,” she told The Media Line.
