‘Healing Wounds’
Since arriving at MSF’s hospital in Amman earlier this year, 11-year-old Manal has made a lot of friends while taking part in activities run by the psycho-social team. In 2015, Manal was injured when a missile exploded in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. (Credit: Alessio Mamo)

‘Healing Wounds’

For the first time in the United Arab Emirates, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), in collaboration with Alliance Francaise and the French Business Council, hosted “Healing Wounds,” a photo exhibition highlighting the stories of patients treated at the MSF Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman, Jordan. The hospital was set up in 2006 in response to the high number of people severely injured during the war in Iraq, and has since served patients from across the region, including Syria, the Palestinian Territories and Yemen. The photos were taken by award-winning Italian photographer and journalist Alessio Mamo in 2017. The photos, previously displayed in Amman and various Italian cities, were displayed in Dubai from April 28-May 4, 2019.
