During these exceptional times, it can be difficult to stay on top of developments in fragile countries in the MENA region, while it remains crucial to be well informed and to plan for sustainable and necessary interventions. With this in mind, the Greater Middle East Platform -an expert network from the Netherlands with excellent connections to the region- organizes a micro-course on the specific situation in various countries during the pandemic.

Libya: A country in conflict in double lockdown. Juggling between fighting a virus and fighting each other, alternated with external third countries meddling with Libya to enlarge their interests and an EU making no effort at all. Once’ Africa’s richest country, now COVID-19 threatens to plunge the country definitely into an extreme fragile state in need for humanitarian response and poverty.

About the speaker: Nicolien Zuijdgeest (MA in Arabic) works as trainer | facilitator | coach. She operates in the field of organization development, process guidance, team development, blended learning & development, sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) and stress & trauma.
