Over 500,000 people visited the ancient Nabatean city of Petra in Jordan during the first six months of 2019, a new record, the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) said. The number of foreign visitors to the site in June increased by 71 percent compared to June 2018, said PDTRA chief commissioner Suleiman Farajat in a statement, according to the Jordanian News Agency Petra.
