Pakistani-Scot Imtiaz Dharker, 65, is expected to be named the United Kingdom’s poet laureate next month. She will be only the second woman in history to become poet laureate, replacing the first woman to receive the honor, Carol Ann Duffy. Dharker was previously awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014.
