Qatar to Host First-ever World Beach Games

Qatar will host the inaugural World Beach Games from October 12 to 16. The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) awarded the event to the Gulf state following San Diego’s withdrawal due to lack of funds. “More than 70 [national Olympic committees] have qualified across the 14 sports, with around 1,400 athletes from up to 90 countries ultimately expected to compete,” the ANOC said in the statement announcing the switch.
