Surviving Hijab

Surviving Hijab, founded in 2014, is a women-only multinational organization aimed at empowering hijab-wearing women. They recently launched a project of taking women to Nepal to climb up to the South Base Camp of Mount Everest, which has an estimate altitude of 5,364 metres (17,598 feet). Lebanon’s Ramona Khalifeh and Tunisia’s Selma Sam Yakel became the first hijab-wearing women from their respective countries to climb up to that point.
