Some 1,700 companies from over 30 countries are taking part in this year’s Damascus International Fair, which opened Aug. 28 and runs through Sept. 6. The Fair was cancelled in 2012 because of Syria’s civil war, but reopened in 2017 for its 59th edition following the 5-year hiatus. The event is one of the oldest and largest international gatherings in the Middle East, with corporations exhibiting their products in 45 different wings spread out over 4 buildings totaling more than 7,000 square meters.
