More on this not-to-be-missed event:

For thousands of years, the Nubians, “Vile Kush” as they were known who lived south of Egypt in present day Sudan were the great enemies of the Pharaohs. Their land “Nbw” literally meant the land of “gold” – and it was so very rich in this coveted mineral!

The Kushites ruled as Pharaoahs in the 8th c. BCE

In this engaging talk, Canadian husband and wife Egyptologists Laura and Francois Roy bring to life the colourful and triumphant events that took place during this unique 75 year period when the Black Pharaohs ruled Egypt.

We will look at their achievements, their art – and the circumstances for their rise and fall.

The Roys just returned in November 2021 from a tour of Sudan and will share their insights into the Nubian sites and pyramids today. They also worked briefly at the 25th Dynasty site of South Asasif.
