Responding to a call by a non-governmental organization, 400 men and women gathered on Wednesday in Tehran and expressed their willingness to support Palestinian suicide bombers, and become martyrs themselves, according to a report by Middle East Online.
The participants of the rally enjoy the support of many high-ranking Muslim clerics. One of them, Grand Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamidani, wrote a fatwa (religious decree), according to which such actions are “permitted and considered relevant in the holy war for the good of Allah when the difference between the military forces of the army of Islam and those of the enemy is too great and there is no other conventional means to hurt the enemy at strategic points.”
The fatwa was read out in front of those who attended the rally. After the rally, Mansoureh Sadeghi, a 31-year-old a student said: “I am ready to take up arms, travel to Palestine and fight against the Zionists… People die in any case so why not die for one’s ideals?”
Though claiming it has no connection to such events, the Iranian regime nevertheless supports – ideologically and financially – terror groups around the world. One of these groups is the Lebanese Hizbullah, which has launched many terror attacks against Israel, not only through its own capabilities, but also through cooperation with Palestinian terror groups in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
