Ahmadi Nejad: Women Allowed into stadiums

For the first time since the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran, women are again to be allowed to enter stadiums as spectators, report Iranian news outlets.

President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad has issued a directive to the Physical Education Organization (PEO) Head Muhammad ‘Ali ‘Abadi, to outline an appropriate plan and give women the best stands in the stadiums, where national and important games are played.

“Contrary to propaganda, experience has proven that the massive presence of women and families in public sites has created an ethical atmosphere,” read the president’s letter to ‘Abadi.

“I am certain that our honorable women who safeguard decency and spiritual magnanimity, will once again be on the vanguard of securing a healthy surrounding,” Ahmadi Nejad added.
