The Union du Maghreb Arabe (UMA) will meet in Morocco next month to strengthen relations between its members, the Algerian Press Service (APS) reported, despite the country’s recent rebuff of the organization.
The UMA has been in crisis for several years because of political friction between its five members, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania. The conflict between Algeria and Morocco has been predominant; in December, King Muhammad VI reneged on his participation in the UMA’s summit in Algiers, which triggered the indefinite postponement of the entire event.
