Blair: Western Iraq secured

The American-led forces have secured western Iraq, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said this evening.

This is the area from which Iraq fired some 40 missiles at Israel during the 1991 Gulf War.

Until now, the U.S. has expressed concern that Saddam still has at least 24 Scud missile launchers that he had successfully hidden from United Nations weapons inspectors.
