Friday night’s terror attack in Tel Aviv was a carefully planned attempt to end the fledgling rapprochement between the Palestinians and Israelis, according to The Media Line analysts.
At least four people were killed and more than 30 injured when a suicide bomber exploded outside a Tel Aviv nightclub.
Initially, Palestinian sources said the Syrian- and Iranian-backed Hizbullah was behind the attack, but since then, Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility. United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged the Palestinians to arrest the perpetrators.
Since the Israeli and Palestinian leaders met in Egypt there has been a fresh round of warnings of terror cells planning attacks in pre-1967 Israel.
Following the attack, Israel has announced it is delaying the handover of military control of Palestinian cities to the Palestinian Authority.
