Deadly Plane Crash in Sudan

A plane crashed over the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Monday, the fourth aviation accident in the country in the past two months.

Initial reports said the plane involved was a cargo aircraft that crashed minutes after taking off from Khartoum’s international airport, killing at least two people.

The plane reportedly belonged to a private Sudanese company, and its crew was believed to be Russian.

Monday’s crash was the third plane crash this month.

Last Friday an Antonov 12 cargo plane crashed near the southern Sudanese town Malaka, killing seven crewmembers.

Thirty people were killed on June 10 when a Sudan Airways plane burst into flames on the runway at Khartoum International Airport.

Sudan Airways flights resumed a week ago after they were grounded for violating civil aviation requirements.

The national airline was allowed to resume flights after it committed to fixing administrative and technical standards.

In May South Sudan’s defense minister was killed with 22 other people in a plane crash.
