Egypt Continues Terror Probe

Egyptian officials are focusing on whether those behind Saturday’s triple bombing in the resort of Sharm A-Sheikh are linked to those who were behind the Taba attack of last October.

At least 88 died over the weekend when three bombs – one suicide and two planted – exploded along the hotel strip in the Red Sea resort town. More than eighty of the victims were Egyptians who have not all been identified and the rest were tourists. Officials report that three of the bombers were seen making their getaway.

With a third claim of responsibility now reported, Egyptian authorities are also trying to establish whether there is a link to Al-Qa’ida or whether the perpetrators are local.

Only one of the three groups claiming responsibility has ties to the worldwide terror network.

According to news reports, the Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation into the attacks and have arrested more than 100 people in connection with the bombings.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian police said a small bomb blew up in a Cairo suburb on Sunday. The bomb carrier was the only person hurt and he was severely injured, reports said.
