Top members of Yassir Arafat’s Fatah organization are meeting on Wednesday to discuss the way ahead for the movement.
The agenda includes debates on whether the political movement should hold elections, the Israeli proposal to withdraw from Gaza, and the future of Fatah’s military wing the Aq’sa Martyrs Brigades.

The brigades has been behind several of the most recent terror attacks, including the last two bus bombings in Jerusalem.
Leaders of Fatah maintain they have no control over what they describe as a splinter group.
They say the brigades is divided into autonomous cells in the various Palestinian towns and villages.
Israel maintains the brigades is under the control of Fatah and Arafat, and that he coordinates its activities.
