Fund for Terror Victims Using Frozen Assets

A fund is to be established to assist terror victims with money confiscated from terrorist organizations.

The announcement was made at a news conference on the sidelines of an international conference on counterterrorism in Saudi Arabia.

Head of the Belgian delegation to the conference Koenraad Dassen said the fund will use money confiscated from frozen bank accounts or from terrorist groups and will help victims of terror.

He said delegates have agreed on the fund, although he did not specify how the money would be distributed or who would decide the distribution.

Saudi Arabia is currently hosting the Counterterrorism International Conference, which includes delegates from more than 50 countries, including the United States.

On Saturday Saudi Crown Prince Amir ‘Abdallah Bin ‘Abd Al-‘Aziz announced the forming of an international center for fighting terror. The center will assist in coordinating between countries and enabling them to exchange information on terrorism.
