Hizbullah: Bush Should Top Terrorist List

United States President George W. Bush and his aides should be at the top of the global-terrorist list, the Lebanon-based Shi’ite Hizbullah organization said in a statement.

The group issued the communiqué following the publication of the U.S. State Department’s annual report on global terrorism, which stressed that Hizbullah is still a designated terrorist organization.

“Every year the American administration categorizes nations, countries and movements according to unjust standards,” the statement said, adding that these reports designate as enemies nations defending themselves against occupation and hostilities.

“Those who support Israeli terrorism against the Palestinian nation as well as occupation and hostilities against Arab states are most deserving to be placed on the terrorist list,” it said.

Friday’s annual report noted that “almost all the countries in the [Middle East and North Africa] continued to cooperate with the United States in counterterrorist activities…several countries made impressive gains against terrorist groups operating in the region.” However, it lists Iran, Syria, Libya and Sudan as state sponsors of terrorism.

Hizbullah enjoys considerable support from Syria and Iran.
