Secretary General of Hizbullah Sheikh Hasan Na’srallah said his group will fight anyone who tries to disarm the organization.
Hizbullah is a Lebanon-based Shi’ite terror organization.
Na’srallah was talking at a rally in Lebanon attended by of tens of thousands of Hizbullah followers marking five years since Israel pulled its forces out of southern Lebanon.
“Any hand that comes close to our weapons is an Israeli hand that should be cut off,” he said. Na’srallah added that he does not want to drag the region into a war and that they will keep their weapons in order to protect the country, not to destroy it.
He also warned that Hizbullah has in its possession 12,000 missiles and that the entire northern part of Israel is within their range of fire.
United Nations Resolution 1559, which was sponsored by the United States and France and approved last September, calls on armed groups in Lebanon to disband and disarm.
The issue of Hizbullah will be a key issue on the international agenda after the general elections in Lebanon which begin at the end of May.
