New Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is asking for India’s help in countering terrorism.
Yudhoyono made the appeal during a meeting with India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Indonesians are also seeking joint sea patrols with the Indian navy.

The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

The Indian premier says much of Asia is having to confront terror, with threats from Afghanistan to the west, and as far east as the Philippines.
Singh is currently seeking a series of bi- and multi-lateral agreements aimed at tackling the threat to South-East Asia from terrorism.
Indonesia has been rocked by numerous terror attacks over the last two years.
The international community believes the attacks in Indonesia are the work of the Al-Qa’ida-linked Al-Jama’a Al-Islamiyya.
So far Yudhoyono has poured cold water on this theory. He says if anyone can prove the organization exists, he will move swiftly to eradicate it.
A former general, Yudoyono was elected in part because of his tough verbal stance against terrorism.
