Iran Claims Al-Qa’ida Arrests

Iran says it has arrested several members of Al-Qa’ida.

The news was released following a Washington Post report suggesting the U.S. is considering planning the removal of the current regime in Tehran. The report suggested the Bush Administration discovered the plotters of the recent deadly bombing attacks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were based in Iran.

Details of the arrests were made public by Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Javad Farif.

“The arrests prove Tehran is not harboring terrorists,” he said. “We have had a number of Al-Qa’ida people in custody, and we continue to keep them in detention, and we continue to interrogate them,” to told ABC news. “Once we have any information from them, we will pass it to friendly governments.”
