Iranian lawmakers have drawn up a bill that bans the production of nuclear weapons, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
Iran is trying to appease the international community in proving its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only and not for creating nuclear weapons.
Iran has been under close international scrutiny for the past two years regarding its nuclear program, although Iranian officials insist its nuclear power is intended for creating electricity.

Hamid Reza Haji-Babaei, a member of the Iranian Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said that the draft bill banning the production of nuclear weapons was drawn up by a number of lawmakers and will be submitted to the Majlis (Iranian parliament) next week, according to IRNA.
Haji-Babaei, who is also one of the initiators of the draft, said the draft is expected to be approved and that this will prove that Iran has never sought the development of nuclear weapons.
Iran is currently under intense pressure as officials from both Iran and the European Union met over the weekend to try and reach some sort of agreement to prevent taking the Iranian nuclear issue to the United Nations Security Council.
This move may cause sanctions to be imposed on Iran if the country is seen to be in the wrong.
