An inspector of the Iranian Criminal Court found that two employees of the Ministry of Information killed Canadian-Iranian journalist Zahra Kazemi last month during an interrogation, according to IRNA, Iran’s state information service.
The inspector described her killing as “quasi-intentional murder” on Monday.

The Iranian Minister of Information subsequently denounced the inspector’s claims as “sheer lies,” according to IRNA.
Kazemi died on July 11 in hospital after being detained for several days in Iranian prison. The circumstances surrounding her death were the subject of a prolonged debate between Iran, Canada, Kazemi’s family and human rights activists.
