Iraqi Contractors Accused of Aiding Terror

A Baghdad council member has accused cleaning contractors in some parts of the city of assisting terrorists, the London-based daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat is reporting.

"These contractors cooperated with the terrorist groups by way of affording them opportunities to execute their attacks," said council member Heitham ‘Abd Al-Hussein during the council’s weekly meeting. The contractors deliberately prevented the city cleaners from working in particular areas where bombs were planted a day earlier, he alleged.

Meanwhile, Iraq continues to suffer from the raging terror in its cities. At least 60 people were killed Monday in a series of terror attacks.

In one incident, 14 people were killed when a bomb exploded in a bus in Khalis. Twelve more died in Baghdad as a result of a car bomb exploding in the Sunni neighborhood Adhamiyya. One minute later a second car bomb was detonated in the same district, killing five.

Another device exploded when a United States army convoy passed through the Qarada neighborhood in Baghdad. Two journalists working with CBS News, an American army captain and an Iraqi interpreter were killed in the incident.
