Iraqi Victims’ Families to Try UK army

The families of six Iraqi civilians killed by British troops will bring their cases to the High Court of Justice in London, seeking an investigation into alleged human-rights abuses, according to reports.

The six Iraqis, five of whom were shot and one of whom was allegedly beaten to death, were all killed after the official end of the war in May 2003. As a result, the families reportedly claim that the cases warrant the application of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The families had appealed a previous ruling that denied them the right to open independent investigations into the case.
