The Israel Air Force Tuesday evening attacked a Hamas police station east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, killing four Hamas members and wounding three, Palestinian news outlets reported.
The attack followed a Palestinian mortar assault on the Israeli community Netiv Ha-‘Asara, located one mile north of the Gaza Strip. Two bombs hit the Israeli community damaging one house. A woman and her baby, who were in the house during the attack, were not harmed. Four Qassam rockets were also fired yesterday toward Israel’s Negev Desert. No casualties were reported.
Hamas promised revenge in response to the Israeli attack.
"All options are open now for the ‘Izz A-Din al-Qassam Brigades [Hamas’ armed wing] and all other resistance factions to retaliate against the enemy," said a Hamas communiqué.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said yesterday that each day that passed brought closer a massive Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip.
