It is the first time the State of Israel has officially adopted a policy favoring the creation of a Palestinian state.
The Americans and Palestinians have been pressuring Jerusalem to formally adopt the plan, which calls for a Palestinian state inside three years.
The political right in Israel said the government should reject the proposal.
