Israel’s Foreign Ministry issues new travel warnings

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs often updates its travel advisories, but never more so than over the last four days, since last week’s double terror attack in Kenya.

These are the latest alerts:

• Ethiopia and Eritrea: Only travel if essential
• Kenya: Not to visit
• South Africa: Only travel if essential
• Egypt, including Sinai: Not to visit
• Thailand: Not to stay for lengthy periods at the major tourist attractions.

Additionally, the ministry has issued new directives concerning travel in general. These are some of the recommendations:

• Be on the look out for unusual events and suspicious packages
• Try not to display the fact that you are Israeli
• Do not stay for lengthy periods in places where many Israelis are known to gather
• Do not embark on political debates with strangers and stay away from all demonstrations.
