Jordan, Iraq Patch up Diplomatic Tiff

Jordan and Iraq have patched up relations after a dispute between the two countries last week caused a mutual recall of envoys.

Jordan’s King ‘Abdallah II ordered the return of the country’s charge d’affaires to Baghdad in order to maintain good relations between the two countries, AP reported.

The dispute erupted over claims of the leading political party, the United Iraqi Alliance, that Jordan was failing to stop potential insurgents from infiltrating across the border into Iraq. Also, there were allegations that a Jordanian carried out a deadly suicide attack last month.

High-ranking Jordanian and Iraqi officials met at the Arab League summit in Algiers on Monday and patched up their differences.
