Jordanian Accused of Spying for Israel

An employee of Jordan’s Royal Geographic Center will be put on trial for divulging military and state secrets to Israel, according to news reports.

Khalid Muhammad Salim Al-Hayajneh allegedly divulged information about Amman’s international airport, a military airport, Palestinian refugee camps, and other strategic information to Israeli security sources.

He worked in the photography and printing department of the geographic organization when he was recruited by an Israeli security official in 1998, according to news sources. Al-Hayajneh was promised Israeli citizenship for himself and his family, the Israeli daily Ma’ariv reported.

Al-Hayajneh was arrested in 2003 but Jordanian officials made the case on Monday.

His trial is to start on Thursday in a state security court and he could face the death penalty, according to reports.
