Largest Latin Church in Mid-East for Jesus Baptismal Site

Following six months of lengthy correspondences, the Vatican and the Jordanian institution managing Jesus’s baptismal location decided to establish the largest Latin Church in the Middle East at the location.

The Church, the construction of which will cost 15 million Euros, will be managed by the Vatican’s Latin Church Management, according to Jordanian daily A-Dustour.

The location of Jesus’s baptism is on the bed of the Jordan River, the waters of which are considered sacred. The church will send the holy water to all parts of the world and these will be used in baptizing ceremonies.

Construction of the church is scheduled to begin within the next two months and it will span an area of approximately 5,000 square meters.

The church is planned to greet over a million visitors a year.
