Lebanese Foreign Minister Jean Obeid affirmed his support for terror group Hizbullah and the path of resistance to reclaim Arab dignity, according to the Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star.
At a news conference following a meeting with Hizbullah leader Sayyid Hasan Na’srallah on Tuesday, Obeid accused Israel of marginalizing the regional conflict to dissent among Arab nations and of continuously evading international law.
Obeid also called for the reclamation of Arab land and rights, a point of concurrence with Hizbullah.
“We share the same plan, especially with regard to national cohesion and recovering all our land and Arab rights that have become clear to the world through adopted international resolutions and peace initiatives,” Obeid was quoted in The Daily Star on Wednesday.
Beirut claims that the Shib’a Farms area in northern Israel is Lebanese territory although it is on the Israeli side of the Blue Line, the border delineated by the U.N. following Israel’s withdrawal from the southern part of the country in 2000.
The destruction of Israel is an integral part of Hizbullah’s mandate; the terror organization largely controls the political and social infrastructure of southern Lebanon.
