Justice Minister Tommy Lapid of the Shinui Party told Army Radio on Sunday that he might vote against the second and third readings of the emergency economic plan. Lapid cited information indicating that Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has cut a deal with the National Religious Party to restore slated funding cuts to yeshivot (religious educational institutions) in return for its support in passing the package. The secular Shinui Party is opposed to any state funds for religious purposes.
