The United States is sowing sectarian strife and anarchy in the Middle East, Hizbullah Secretary-General Hasan Na’sarallah said on Tuesday.
Na’srallah was speaking at a Beirut rally marking ‘Ashoura, a major Shi’ite holiday. “The Americans plan to punish the resistance organizations through civil wars and dragging resistance movements in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon into internal fighting,” he said.
Lebanon will be a graveyard for any invaders, he added.
Na’srallah appeared to be responding to United States President George W. Bush who accused Syria, Iran and Hizbullah of fomenting violence in the region in their bid to topple the Western-backed government of Fuad Siniora.
“Those responsible for causing chaos must be called to account,” Bush said.
Four people have been killed and more than 200 wounded in violent clashes between supporters of the Lebanese government and opposition members this week.
